Fraudulent COD Payments

As much as I hate to interject a negative topic into the happy place known as The Kratom Korner, I just want to make a statement really quickly concerning COD payments.

We have offered COD as a payment method for as long as I can remember. And in that time, we've had a really, REALLY low number of problems. I mean, percentage-wise it barely registers. And I think that speaks to the great quality of customers we have. But as time went on, we were bound to come across a bad egg or two (which we have). So since there's no real posted notice as to what happens with COD payments, I figured this would be a great time.

Personal Checks - PLEASE don't pay with personal checks if you can help it. We don't always deposit in a timely manner and it just makes it more difficult for you. With USPS we can't refuse payment with them like we can with FedEx, so we still get them. But if at all possible, please don't use them. If you do, and it bounces because of:

Not-Sufficient Funds (NSF): We will contact you and let you know that you had a check bounce. We won't make a big deal out of it, we've all overdrawn from time to time. But until you make arrangements with us, we may not accept future COD orders from you. Right now, we don't charge a fee for returned checks.

Closed Account: We take these a little more seriously. Writing checks on a closed account CAN be an accident or a sudden problem, but again - PLEASE talk to us about it. Communication is the key. We won't make a big deal out of it, just let us know what's going on.

And last but not least - Fake Money Orders!

We've only received these from 2 people in our over 4 years of business, so it's not a huge issue. But I just wanted to let anybody out there who might be thinking about trying to use one what will happen:

We receive quite a few COD payments every week. A lot. And as a result, we're familiar with pretty much every type of check, money order and security protection out there. So when we get a fake money order, we LITERALLY know it's fake before we even look at it. Just by feeling them, we can tell (No matter how clever you think you are or how awesome you think it looks).

As where check problems may or may not be accidental, fraudulent money orders are obviously intentional. And as such, we WILL (and actually just did one today) file charges for fraud. We're not doing this because we're mad that we were literally robbed. We're not doing this to be spiteful. We're doing this because A) I don't want one or two bad people to ruin the payment options that we offer to customers, and B) If they are doing it with us, chances are VERY high that they're doing the same thing to other people and need to be stopped.

So, to recap:

1) If you have a problem with a check that you pay with, please just talk to us about it. We're fine with it, we can work it out. We're not going to be nasty about it because we got a returned check, and we're not going to charge "service" fees or anything like that. We're more than happy to work with you.

2) If you send us a fraudulent money order, we WILL prosecute you. I don't care if I have to send somebody on a plane to file a complaint/present evidence in person. We will have charges filed in your local jurisdiction, and you will be arrested. End of story.

Okay, now that we have that nastiness out of the way, stay tuned for the announcement of not one, but TWO contents which are coming this month!

Thanks again, and if you have any questions - Please let us know.

Product Updates

I know I've been promising this for awhile, but it's finally available - The resin is now in powdered form AND hard/rock form. PLEASE NOTE - They are both the same product. It's just that one's a powder and one is hard, broken up pieces. The hard resin is coming in at a little lower price due to it requiring less preparation.

Also - The Maeng Da and 15X will be in stock THIS WEEK (5/19)! Sorry for the inconvenience, fortunately we were able to keep it to a minimum.

Selling To Headshops/Smokeshops?

So it recently came to my attention that our recent consideration of entering the wholesale market for retail stores (Headshops/Smokeshops) was causing something of a disturbance among Kratom lovers. Fears of us selling out, hurting the industry, etc. were rampant - And in retrospect, well understood.

I just wanted to take a minute to explain why we originally were planning to enter that market, and what the outcome was.

Right now, Kratom is sold in a lot of stores. And unfortunately, it's pretty much exclusively sold by suppliers who are marketing Kratom in extremely irresponsible ways (I don't want to name names, but it fittingly rhymes with "icky"). Our original thought of entering that market wasn't to try and expand our sales, or increase profit or anything else. As you've all seen more than enough, we have a hard enough time keeping a lot of things in stock as it is. And selling what we do have on a wholesale basis would actually generate LOWER profits.

So why do it?

Because the general thought was that we wanted to push the irresponsible suppliers out of the market. We could destroy them on price and cut into every area imaginable. They would hopefully have to retract and we could be the knight (or king) in shining armor to save the industry from the people looking to exploit it. And what we DIDN'T count on was the number of people who suddenly became afraid that we WERE one of the irresponsible people looking to exploit it. And nothing could be further from the truth.

In any event - We have since discontinued our program to launch into retail stores for numerous reasons. So all is right with the world again (At least our little corner of it). Sorry if anybody understandably mistook our intentions as profit-based. And thanks to everybody for voicing their concerns. If anybody ever has any in the future PLEASE don't hesitate to let us know. We will always listen.
